The history of JSC MEDSIL

JSC MEDSIL was established in 1992 on the basis of medical technology laboratory – formerly a department of Special design office of cable industry (OKB KP), working since 1958 in Mytischi, the Moscow region.

The name MEDSIL is formed from words medical silicone.

The company’s staff has been developing and manufacturing products from silicone rubber and other polymeric materials for medicine, food industry, electrotechnical industry, construction and other areas for more than 40 years.

During this period the following products have been developed and applied in batch production:

• the first Russian implanted wires - electrodes for electrostimulators of heart activity
• the model of artificial heart finished with a stage of experiments on animals
• the first domestic multilumen tubes and drainages from silicone - organic (silicone) rubber
• implanted systems for treatment of hydrocephaly
• silicone implants for eye surgery for scleroplastics of retinal detachment
• laryngeal masks from silicone rubber
• catheters for subclavian and jugular veins catheterization

Joint-Stock Company MEDSIL cooperates with highly skilled personnel of leading medical, chemical and other enterprises. As a result of this cooperation, more than 100 inventions have been developed; over 150 research works have been published.

For today, a wide range of JSC MEDSIL’s products are successfully applied in medical institutions all over the Russian Federation.

While designing and manufacturing medical products by JSC MEDSIL various polymeric materials are used: silicone rubber, polyurethane, polyethylene, polyvinylchloride (PVC), polyamide, etc. Among them silicone rubber and polyurethane are the most important and frequently used.
